Kim Tackaberry

Kim Tackaberry graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa in 1991as well as a Specialist in Special Education Additional Qualification Certification. She has activated learning for students in Grades One through Twelve, for over twenty nine years. She spent most of her teaching career at Foothills Academy Society, a centre for children with learning disabilities and/or ADHD. At the age of 16, a personal experience led Kim to think extensively about the need for a unique, safe forum for teen girls to speak openly about their experiences. Hence, decades later, in 2006, the GLOW program was born. On a related note, Kim volunteered with the Artemis Group of Calgary to raise funds for charities that support women and children. She was nominated in 2008 for the Calgary Inc. ‘Top 40 under 40’ award for her devotion to improving literacy for children particularly those who are struggling and her vision to empower girls to become strong powerful leaders.
