Kim Tackaberry graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa in 1991, along with a Specialist in Special Education Additional
Qualification Certification. She activated learning for students in Grades One through Twelve, for over twenty nine years. Most of her teaching career was spent at Foothills Academy Society, a
centre for children with learning disabilities and/or ADHD. When Kim was sixteen, her personal experience led her to the realization that girls would benefit from a unique, safe forum to speak
openly about a variety of teen topics and concerns. Hence, in 2006, the GLOW program was born. For five years, Kim volunteered with the Artemis Group of Calgary to raise funds for charities that
support women and children. She was nominated in 2008 for the Calgary Inc. ‘Top 40 under 40’ award for her devotion to improving literacy for children, who are struggling and her vision to
empower girls to become strong powerful leaders.
